Henry David Thoreau Leonie is based in Australia, surrounded by the Karri forest on the south west coast, land of the big surf, tall trees and fine wine. Most of her subject matter portrays this forest landscape and the birds which live around her home. Wandering abroad in the USA and Europe has also inspired her and she often portrays the red rock desert and rivers of southern Utah, the beauty of Italy and France or her favourite city New York. "I am happiest surrounded by the natural world, the forests, the ocean and deserts, but also love the anonymity and energy of big cities. I need a creative outlet to make sense of this world around me, so I paint, I draw, I take snapshots.
