About the Artist
Leonie Higgins Noone
BSc Aquaculture Full of contradictions, friendly and outgoing, but a borderline recluse. Mostly left handed, but a little right handed. Impatient, but a shocking procrastinator. An artist and a scientist. I have always been torn between my thirst for knowledge and my desire to create. I trained as a scientist, majoring in Seafood Science and Aquaculture. Most of my study for my Bachelor's Degree was spent in the Environmental Biology Department which gave me an insight into the complex relationships of our natural world. Not satisfied with only learning about our environment, I was compelled to express the beauty I saw and began to draw and paint the world around me. I have had no formal art training and am learning and exploring my craft every day. I love to draw and paint and also enjoy capturing images with my camera, not only of the sublimeness of my neighbourhood, but also of the faraway places I have travelled.. These images are often used as inspiration for my art or just as a memory of all that I have seen. I live near the ocean on the edge of a forest of Karri trees which are known to be some of the tallest in the world. The roar of the Indian Ocean and the whisper of the wind in the tall trees inspire me to share my vision. While most of my subject matter portrays this forest and it's birds which surround my home I also portray the wonder I see in places far from home. To enquire about prices, availability, or perhaps leave a message for my visitor's book, drop in and say g'day. I look forward to hearing from you. Cheers, Leonie Higgins Noone |
